Our mission is to support and promote filmmakers
working in the mythic arts and independently of the
studio system. The work of those who find myth and
metaphor to be the conduit of their imagination. Our
goal is to celebrate these films in the spirit of a festival,
rather than the grind of competition.
We have two venues - The Blog and The Festival. The
Blog highlights mythicfilms and filmmakers from around
the world on a regular basis. The Festival hosts
screenings and awards once a year.
The inaugural Mythic Film Festival will take place in
New York City, April 30-May 2, 2010. Over three
nights the Mythic Film Festival will introduce audiences
to some of the best mythic filmmakers working today.
We seek to find those films that create myth from their
unique imaginations, from found objects, or pushing
past their indie-filmmaking limitations. Each night will
showcase 2-4 films (depending on length), introduced by
a unique performance of The Wild Hunt.
